An Evening with President Lincoln

The Slifer House Museum, located on the campus of RiverWoods Senior Living Community in Lewisburg, presents an intimate evening with President Abraham Lincoln on March 27, 2010 from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. James A. Getty, a nationally known Lincoln historian and Lincoln actor, will portray Abraham Lincoln at a formal dinner and converse with guests about the state of the union during his presidency. Following dinner, guests will adjourn to the parlor for comments by Lincoln and musical entertainment, featuring a selection of melodies from the Civil War.

The site for this Evening with President Lincoln is the historic Victorian Slifer House Museum designed and built for Eli and Catherine Slifer as their residence during the late 1850’s by the noted Philadelphia architect, Samuel Sloan. Eli Slifer served as the Secretary of Pennsylvania during the Civil War and was responsible for raising men and supplies to support the Union Army.

Miss Betty Cook will serve as hostess of the Lincoln dinner and a Presidential Honor Guard will be present. The cost is $125 per person, a portion of which is tax-deductible as a charitable donation to the Slifer House Museum. Seating is limited and sold on a first-come, first-serve basis.
